Production Manager

BSCENE is looking for a Production Manager who will report directly to the Managing Editor.

• Must have print media experience and an understanding of city/regional magazines.
• Writing samples for a wide variety of stories including lifestyle, investigative, profiles, human interest, service pieces, etc.
• Soliciting and developing editorial content.
• Assigning work to staff and freelancers and working closely with them to ensure content is on track.
• Creating production schedules and ensuring deadlines are met.
• Editing stories for substance and style
• Writing stories, headlines, teases, cover lines, etc.
• Maintaining standards and style in all text, including "voice," grammar, punctuation and factual accuracy.
• Preparing a magazine for production, including collecting last-minute elements (i.e., photos, cutlines, fact checks, etc.), proofreading, making changes to InDesign documents and checking page before they go to the printer.
• Interacting with people and organizations throughout the community, including television and radio appearances in a professional manner.

The ideal candidate must also have:• The ability to work closely with the editor(s) and publisher to ensure the design, text and covers meet BSCENE Magazine's high standards.
• An extremely strong eye for detail.

• Knowledge of various aspects of East Texan's lifestyle including cuisine, music, fashion, travel, personalities, human interest, business, the arts, interior design, and events.
